Discipleship 102

SESSION ONE

Session one: Teaching

The Creator and His Creation

God created you on purpose, for a purpose

Small group discussion

Small group discussion

How would you describe who you are apart from your job, relationships, achievements or responsibilities? Does knowing that you are created by God and made in His image change the way you think about yourself?

1 Corinthians 12 says that every part of the body is necessary. Where have you experienced a strong sense of belonging or contribution in a group, and what made you feel that way?

Read through the list of Spiritual Gifts (from the passages on p.7, or the Spiritual Gifts Survey). Which do you see evident in those around you? OR Complete the Survey to see how God may have gifted you.

What is one practical step you could take in the next few weeks to better discover or use the way God has made you to serve others? What might you need to start, stop, or change?

Before our next session

Before our next session

Take some time to work through the following activities individually or with your small group:

Complete the Spiritual Gifts Survey and chat to someone you trust to see if they agree with its assessment. Discuss how you could use these gifts to work/worship/serve God this week.

Read and reflect on 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. What does this passage teach you about your place in the body of Christ? You could do this in your own personal time or meet with someone from your group to discuss further.

Complete the following sentence “Because God created me on purpose and for a purpose, I believe that...”, then spend time across the week thanking Him for who He has created you to be.

Reflect on the discipleship pathway resource and begin filling it out.
