Our vision

In 2034, we see a united, authentic and safe church community where families are thriving. We see a spiritually mature and strong body living gospel lives with its identity deeply rooted in Jesus. We see a church where the transforming power of the Holy Spirit is manifested in the church and in the community through Christians who are called, equipped and sent. We see a local community that is being transformed by a powerful ministry to children and families, where unhealthy societal trends are being reversed, and children are healed. We see those who have been sent from the nations encountering Jesus and impacting their own communities. We see smaller gatherings of believers in local neighbourhoods, who are one in worship and reconciled to God and one another. We see a lasting local impact in collaboration with the wider body of Christ that will have a ripple effect across this nation until the Lord Jesus’ return.

We believe

What we believe shapes the way we live. We invite you to explore our beliefs and discover how we seek to live them out together as a community of faith.

We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus is fully God and fully human, born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect and sinless life, died on the cross for our sin and rose from the dead on the third day.

Through Jesus, we can be reconciled to God and receive new life. He returned to the Father and will come again to complete God’s plan of redemption.

We believe the Holy Spirit is God and is present with every believer. He guides, comforts, teaches and empowers us to follow Jesus and live out our faith.

We believe the gifts and work of the Holy Spirit continue today, equipping believers to serve God, build His Church and share His love with others.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is true, authoritative and relevant to our lives today. Through Scripture, God reveals Himself, teaches and encourages us, and equips us to live as followers of Jesus.

We believe prayer is an essential part of our relationship with God. Through prayer, we spend time with Him, listen, give thanks, bring our needs before Him and seek His will.

Prayer can take many forms — individually and together — and helps us grow in our relationship with God and become more aligned with His purposes.

We believe the Church is the community of people who follow Jesus — a spiritual family united by Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Every believer has a place and purpose within the Body of Christ. Together, we are called to worship God, care for one another, grow as disciples and share the good news of Jesus with our world.

We believe the good news of Jesus is for everyone. Jesus calls His followers to share His message of hope, salvation and new life with others.

We do this through our words and the way we live, sharing what Jesus has done and demonstrating His love within our families, communities and beyond.

We believe God is the Creator of all things. Creation reveals His goodness, power and purpose, and humanity was uniquely created in His image.

Every person therefore has God-given value, dignity and purpose and is created to live in relationship with Him.

We believe humanity was created for relationship with God, but sin entered the world through human disobedience and separated us from Him.

Sin affects every person and every part of our world, bringing brokenness and death. Because we cannot restore this relationship ourselves, we need the forgiveness and new life God offers through Jesus.

We believe salvation is God’s gift to us through Jesus. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus took the penalty for our sin and made a way for us to be reconciled to God.

Salvation cannot be earned; it is received by faith in Jesus, accompanied by repentance and a decision to follow Him. Through the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to leave our old ways behind and live a new life in Christ.

We believe Jesus calls those who follow Him to repent and be baptised. Water baptism by full immersion is a public declaration of our faith in Jesus and represents leaving our old life behind and beginning a new life in Him.

We also believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowering believers to live and serve through the presence and gifts of the Spirit, including speaking in tongues.

Celebrating 50 years

In 2025, GVCF celebrated 50 years of serving and building faith in the north end of Shepparton. Over those years, we’ve gathered in small and larger spaces before eventually moving into our own building in the early 2000s. Through each season, our collective hope has remained the same—to serve the community that gathers with us onsite and the wider north end of our town. During our 50th year, we took time to refresh and renew our vision as a church and share it with our community. Now, the work before us is to continue living that vision out together.
